John Elmore Floyd passed away on May 5, 2020 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. He was born and lived in Nassawadox, Virginia.
John was predeceased by his parents, Richard Sinclair Floyd III and Anne Elmore Floyd: his grandparents, Richard S. Floyd Jr. and Sallie B. Floyd; Charles T. Elmore and Leonie H. Elmore.
John is survived by his twin brother William S. Floyd (Brenda) : sister, Mary Anne F. Davis (Jim) and his brother Charles R. Floyd (Kathryn). John had many nephews and nieces Mark B. Sherkey Jr. (Krista), Anne Marie S. Bott (Wescott) , Jennifer Landa, Lori Floyd Miller (Stuart) , Charlie Floyd, Julia Meier, Anna Meier, Will Floyd (Megan) and Jill Floyd along with 12 great nieces and nephews.
John was educated at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton, Virginia. He worked at the ARC sponsored Vocational Center in Exmore, Virginia and was a lifelong member of Johnson's United Methodist Church.
John is noted for making crab pots at the Vocational Center. This was his passion and he is noted for his great skill in doing his job. He loved listening to music and old western movies, like The Rifleman.

A celebration of life service will be held at Johnson's United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 19,2021 at 11:00 am.
