Emerson Smith Obituary

Emerson Richard Smith, 77, of Melfa, Virginia died peacefully on August 5, 2021.

Emerson was born on August 29, 1943 in Jamesville, Virginia and was the son of the late Harry C. Smith and Ruth Somers Smith.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Emerson. He married the love of his life, Susan, on June 21, 1980 and his greatest joy was found in his 3 daughters. To know Emerson, was to love him. A smile constantly on his face, a dance floor with his name on it and the true life of the party. His zest for life was infectious. If you couldn’t find Emerson on a tractor then you would probably find him on his boat in the Chesapeake Bay. Emerson is survived by his loving wife, Susan, his daughters Jennifer Annis (Isaac), Lori Beck (John) and Ashley Fox (Ben), grandchildren Justin and Matt Annis (Chelsea), Camden and Kesteren Beck and Carter and Eli Fox and great grandchildren Grayson and Abigail Annis. Emerson was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a member of the Onancock Elks Club and Exmore Moose Lodge.

The Smith family is sincerely grateful to the caring professionals at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and the Citadel.
