Charles Thomas Etz died on February 11,2023. Born in Nassawadox, VA. On June 6, 1939 and reared in Cheriton, VA. by his parents Joseph T. Etz, jr. and Dorothy Scott Etz. He is survived by one sister Deborah Etz McDonald (Michael) of Farmersville TX., one nephew Eric Green (Kristy) of Kaufman, TX. and one one neice Candance Carter (Dan) of Lakewood, CO. He is also survived by cousins Rebecca Watson (David), Earl Scott (Paula) , Kay Bordner, Sharon Blackmon (Robert) and his dear friends and neighbors Jeff, Amy and Ryann Flournoy. Charles was predeceased by a nephew Michael Todd Brown.
While living in Cheriton with his parents Charles earned the Eagle Scout Award of the Boy Scouts of America at the age of 14 and in 1957 graduated from Northampton High School. Charles attended Virginia Tech and graduated from Hagerstown Junior College. He served in the United States Army and retired after twenty four years of service. During the twenty four years he was awarded the United States of America Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), US Army Commendation Medal ( 2nd award), US Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), US Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), US Army Overseas Ribbon and graduated from the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Academy and was promoted to Sergeant First Class.
Charles was employed by Orkin Exterminating Co. Inc as Branch Manager over a ten year period and served at the following locations: Wilmington, DE., Baltimore, MD., Hagerstown, MD., Philadelphia, PA. And York, PA. He was a member of the Noncommissioned Officers Asssociation , American Legion Post 56, (District and Post Service Officer), Lions Club (Treasurer) and the Exmore Baptist Church.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 2:00 pm. at Cape Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Carpenter and Mr. Barry Downing officiating
