April Millett Marquedant

April Millett Marquedant passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She bravely fought a long, hard battle with cancer. She was born April 15, 1940 in Portsmouth, Virginia. and grew up in Ocean View. Her parents were the late John C. and Helen B. Millett. April moved to the Shore in 1989, she retired from the Eastern Shore Community Services Board after 19 years of service. She was the youngest of five children. She was predeceased by her son, Paul Marquedant, Jr., her sister Rose Marie Dickerson and brothers John C. Millett and Ejner Karlsen.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Paul Marquedant, Sr., daughter, Michelle Marquedant Walsh, son Mathew Marquedant, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also left behind are her sister, Helen B. Trunkes and numerous other family members and cherished friends.

She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother and trusted friend and advisor to many. She was a creative problem solver who was always ready to try something new. She never missed an opportunity to help friends and strangers and taught many people to cope with difficulties, to re-think their issues and face life with confidence and positivity. She was a selfless, generous and kind human being who will be missed by many.

She loved working in her yard and creating beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed cooking and was handy with a paint brush when it came time to redecorate a room.

A celebration of life will be held on September 24th from 1:00 to 5::00 PM at 4484 Cobbs Station Road, Cape Charles, VA. 23310. All are welcome to join us.
