Anne Elmore Floyd died on April 2, 2020 at Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock, Virginia. She
was born in Painter, Virginia and was a resident of Machipongo, Virginia.
Anne was predeceased by: her parents, Charles T. Elmore and Leonie Hughes Elmore; her husband,
Richard S. Floyd, III; her sister, Margaret E. Lankford, and brothers, Charles T. Elmore, Jr and D. Page
Elmore.
She is survived by her children: Mary Anne F. Davis (Jim), Charles R. Floyd (Kathryn), William S.
Floyd (Brenda), and John E. Floyd; her grandchildren: Mark B. Sherkey, Jr (Krista), Anne Marie S.
Bott (Wescott), Jennifer Landa, Lori F. Miller (Stuart), Charlie Floyd, Julia Meirer, Anna Meirer, Will
Floyd (Megan), and Jill Floyd; and 12 great grandchildren.
Anne was educated at Northampton Accomac Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (LPN) and worked
at Shore Memorial Hospital (NAMH) for 25 years as a nurse and nuclear medicine technician.
She was a very active member of Johnson’s United Methodist Church, JUMW (Past President), and
Homemakers’ Club. Anne was an avid bridge player, antique collector, and jigsaw puzzler.
Entertaining family and friends for holidays and special occasions was her specialty. As a mother,
grandmother, and great grandmother she always encouraged us to do our best, keep a smile on our
faces, have a positive attitude, and help others.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Johnson’s United Methodist Church, in care of Mrs.
Marge Kacik, 12337 Trout Lane, Machipongo, Virginia 23405.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Johnson's United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 11:00 am.
